I took Nora to a local art museum, the Nicolaysen, that has a children’s area called the Discovery Center. We had a lot of fun!
Some of Nora’s favorite things were the play sand, the magnet fractals, and the chairs. She loved the ‘pint size chairs’ that were just her size.
I see us going back to the gallery to have a little play time outside of the house. It’s good for us to get out and it helps Nora burn some energy. She slept so good for her afternoon nap.
PS. I started another blog (I know, I can barely post on this one). But I wanted to start one that was more for my crafting, crossfitting, cooking, part of life and leave this one to be my family life. IF you would like to check it out, please do: https://craftycrossfitterblog.wordpress.com, I haven’t posted anything yet, I just got it started.
I’ve been on a short (well kind of long) hiatus from blogging. Not for any particular reason, but I just stopped worrying about it. And sometimes, at night, when it’s ‘time to blog’ I just don’t feel like it. It kind of was feeling like doing homework every night and ‘ain’t nobody got time for that’. Granted, when I put Nora to bed I am usually on the computer or something anyway, but it’s mindless browsing where I don’t have to think.
As Nora is walking, talking and becoming a toddler our days can be busy while still doing nothing. I give her a lot of my attention during the day; ie. I try to SPEND time with her rather than just be there. When she’s awake I’m usually playing with her or entertaining her in lieu of cleaning or doing other household duties (for the most part). AND Nora is on the transition from one nap to two, and nap time goes quick when I am actually trying to get those things done, while being quiet.
Nora has found her selfie face! Every time I have the camera turned around so she can see her face, she sticks out her little tongue. Such a goof!
I found some sparkly red shoes at Once Upon A Child a few months back and thought that they would be perfect for Nora to be Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz; my favorite movie. I even wore ‘ruby red slippers’ at my wedding and walked down the aisle to ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’. Here is little Miss Dorothy in her ruby red slippers. We didn’t have a ‘Toto’, so a bunny subbed in.
I threw on some makeup and was Scarecrow.
We met our friends Stephanie and Wyatt to do a little walking around downtown.
Nora really liked this neon ‘cigar’ sign!
Then we walked over to a local toy store, Toy Town, and had fun playing with all the fun toys! I think I had just as much fun as the kids did in this store, they have EVERYTHING!
Nora and I had some fun with soap today! I’ve been looking for age appropriate activities for us to do try during the day and found some great ones on Pinterest, including this soap activity.
Nora had so much fun playing with the slippery soap and it didn’t matter if the soap got everywhere because it didn’t make a mess! She did taste a little bit of it (I used Babyganics soap which is organic so it shouldn’t be too harsh on her belly and she didn’t eat much) so she was kind of over it after that.
But I showed her how to play with the soap with a basting brush and that got her playing again.
Nora then thought I needed to be ‘painted’ with soap. Needless to say we both smelled really nice after this, but Nora still needed a bath.
We had a lot of fun and I can’t wait to try more activities with her!
We were on the road for the Bighorn Mountains for our first camping trip with Nora before first nap, so it didn’t take long for her to conk out (although it wasn’t for long)
We got there and let Nora stretch out a bit in the fresh mountain air.
It was so beautiful and green. Flowers are one of my favorite things to photograph.
Our campsite was right next to a mountain lake, although beautiful the flies and mosquitos were in full swing. Cory and I came home with many bites but somehow we managed to keep them off of Nora, thank goodness!
Cory being manly to build us a campfire.
Happy Birthday America!! (Sorry Nora is chewing on your flag)
I got out on the kayak for a little alone time. It was so quiet and peaceful. I love being out on the water with no one else around.
Then later on we all went on a little hike and did some fishing. We didn’t last too long because the bugs were amuck! I did manage to catch a fish later that afternoon and Cory caught many as well.
Nora wanted to catch a fish too!
It was a fun, exhausting weekend. I’m sure there will be many more camping trips in our future!
This past weekend was busy for us. We had a 1st birthday celebration for our friend Wyatt. I had about 3 other friends that were pregnant when I was and all of our babies were born within 2 months, so there will be lots of first birthdays coming up. I’m already starting to plan Nora’s. I am so excited yet a little sad that my baby is growing up so fast. A YEAR! Wow, I can’t believe it. I year in itself seems so long, yet it has gone by SO FAST!
Nora and I headed downtown to a local toy store, Toy Town, to pick up something for Wyatt. This store is amazing and filled to the brim with fun and unique toys,
Nora also picked up a little something at the toy store.
Then later that evening we went over to grandma Janet’s house for a BBQ and relaxed in her beautiful backyard; so many trees, flowers, foliage and a creek running through it!
On Sunday we went to NICfest, which is an annual event here with many yummy food vendors (we enjoyed some great Greek food and fresh lemonade), artists displaying and selling their amazing art (the only thing we ended up buying was a cute little Mexican dress for Nora, go figure), live music and we got our feet wet at a nearby splash pad to cool down. It was a fun little event that we enjoy every year.
We had our last day of summer camp at Vibes KIndermusik. I’m bummed its our last day, but we have decided that we are going to sign back up in the fall, and that curriculum basically lasts through the school year, so we have that to look forward to!
Today we played with balls
Played with lots of shakers and bells.
And had lots of fun with the parachute.
We are happy for the friends we met and hope to see them again in the fall! This was such a good experience for both of us. Nora even remembered one of the songs we sang because she was ready to do some of the motions! I think these classes will help her so much developmentally and socially; plus they are so much fun!
After we got home from Vibes and had lunch we played a bit in the pool to cool down.
Nora and I made a trip to the park today to enjoy the weather and have a picnic. My mom even joined us for a little bit.
It was an impromptu lunch (I had intentions of going to the gym, but Nora took a long nap and this sounded more fun). So I picked up some Panchos- steak quesadilla, rice and beans-for Nora and I to share on our blanket
Despite this face, she enjoyed her lunch and had a fun time playing with grass and sticks and just enjoying being outside.
And look at this outfit, seriously the cutest. This girl dresses better than me!
My little girl and I had such a nice and relaxing time at the park; many more picnics to come!!
